# Private Attributes

A **Private Attribute** is a custom tag only visible to your fund. It allows you to consistently categorise and track investments for internal analytics. Common examples include:

* Assigned Portfolio Manager
* ESG Category
* Internal Team
* Impact Rating

These attributes improve visibility across your portfolio and streamline internal workflows.

Use them when you want to:

* Organise investments by internal categories
* Track fund-specific data not shared with companies
* Filter or sort portfolio views

## Best Practice Example

*A fund uses a Private Attribute called "Owner" (Flexible List) to assign each investment to an internal team member.*

*Another attribute called "Theme" (Fixed List) categorizes companies by investment mission.*
